Terms and Conditions
Fiscal Umbrella Accountants Ltd is a Luton accountancy and tax practice for growing limited companies. These terms cover your use of this website and any enquiry you send us before we start working together. The accountancy and tax work itself is governed by a separate engagement letter, signed by both sides at the start.

About these terms
Fiscal Umbrella Accountants Ltd is a limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 16315644, with its office at Suite 2B, Crystal House, Luton LU1 1HS. These terms cover what you do on this website: reading the pages, answering the questions on the intake quiz, sending an enquiry and anything else before your company becomes a client. They are not the contract for accountancy or tax work. If we go on to work together, a separate engagement letter sets out what we do for your company, what it costs and what each of us agrees to.
How we work with clients
Every piece of professional work we do, whether that is year-end accounts, corporation tax, VAT, bookkeeping, payroll or a director’s personal tax return, runs under an engagement letter agreed and signed before the work starts. That letter names the services, the fixed fee agreed in writing, the information we need from you, the timetable and how either side can end the arrangement. Nothing on this website, in an email reply or on a first call creates that engagement on its own. If anything in these website terms sits awkwardly against your signed engagement letter, the engagement letter is the one that applies.
Using this website
A few straightforward rules apply to everyone who visits the site.
Permitted use
You are welcome to read these pages, print them and share them inside your own company. You may not copy the site or large parts of it for commercial use, scrape it with automated tools, republish our guides as your own, or take it apart to rebuild something similar.
User conduct
Please do not use the site for anything unlawful, fraudulent or abusive. That includes sending false information through the forms, impersonating someone else, uploading malicious code, harassing anyone connected with the firm, or trying to overload, interfere with or gain unauthorised access to the website.
Enquiry and form integrity
When you answer the quiz or send an enquiry, give accurate details about your company and keep any login or portal credentials we later issue to you private. Tell us as soon as you can if you think someone else has used your details or your access to reach us.
Relying on what you read here
Everything on this site is general information about tax and accounting, written for growing limited companies. It is not advice on your company’s position, and tax rules change. Before you act on anything you read here, engage us formally so the advice is based on your actual numbers.
Intellectual property
The words, photographs, guides, calculators, page layouts and design on this website belong to Fiscal Umbrella Accountants Ltd or are used under licence. The Fiscal Umbrella name and logo belong to the firm. You can read the content, quote short extracts and link to any page, as long as you credit Fiscal Umbrella and link back to the original page. You cannot reproduce the content in a commercial product, resell it, use it to train a model, or use our name, logo or branding in your own marketing or on your own site without written permission from us first.
Our professional obligations
Accountancy and tax work in the UK is a regulated profession. Some of what we do is required by law and by our professional bodies, and it applies whatever a client would prefer.
Anti-money laundering checks
Under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017, we have to identify and verify every client and the people who own and control it before we start work. That means proof of identity and proof of address for directors and beneficial owners, and questions about the source of funds. Some cases need enhanced checks. If we cannot complete these checks to our satisfaction, we will not take the work on, and we may have to end an engagement already underway.
Record retention
We keep client identification records and the records of work we have done for at least six years after an engagement ends, in line with the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and tax record-keeping rules, and longer where a particular matter needs it. Our Privacy Policy sets out the retention periods and how we store and delete records.
Suspicious activity reporting
If we know or suspect that someone is involved in money laundering or terrorist financing, we have a legal duty to report it to the National Crime Agency. That duty sits above our duty of confidentiality to a client, and we do not need the client’s agreement to make the report. The law also makes it an offence to tip off anyone that a report has been made or is being considered, so we cannot tell you if one has been filed or discuss it with you.
Professional regulation
Fasih Khan is ACCA qualified, an AAT licensed member and a member of the CMI. Our work is bound by the ethical code of the relevant UK accountancy professional body, covering integrity, objectivity, competence, confidentiality and professional behaviour. Where anything in these terms or in an engagement letter is inconsistent with that code, the code applies.
Limitation of liability
This section is about the website only. Our responsibility for accountancy and tax work is dealt with in the engagement letter your company signs.
What follows covers the information published on this site and your use of it. Liability for professional services, including accounts, tax returns, VAT work, payroll and advisory work, is set out in the signed engagement letter for that engagement, and nothing here reduces or replaces what that letter says.
Things we do not limit
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited under the law of England and Wales. Your statutory rights are unaffected by anything written on this page.
Website related liability
The website is provided as it is. We keep it up and keep it current as best we can, but we do not promise it will always be available, free of errors or free of interruption, and pages may be changed or removed. The guides, calculators and articles here are general information about UK tax and accounting rules. We are not responsible for losses that follow from acting on website content alone without engaging us to look at your company’s own position.
Professional services liability
Where we are engaged to do work for your company, our liability for that work is limited in the way the engagement letter describes, usually by reference to the fees paid for the engagement or a stated cap, and is subject to the terms and exclusions set out in that letter. We hold professional indemnity insurance in line with our professional body’s requirements. The signed engagement letter is the document that governs this, not this page.
Your responsibilities to us
The work we do rests on the records and information you give us: bank data, marketplace payouts, sales and purchase records, payroll details, contracts and the answers you give to our questions. You are responsible for making sure what you send is accurate and complete, and for telling us about anything that changes during the year. We check what we can and we query what looks wrong, and we cannot verify everything independently. If we suffer a loss, claim or cost because information you supplied was inaccurate, incomplete or withheld, you agree to cover us for it, except where the loss is caused by our own negligence.
Ending these terms
You can stop using this website whenever you like. We can suspend or withdraw access if these terms are broken, or if the site is being misused in a way that affects other visitors or the firm. Ending your use of the website does not end an engagement letter, which has its own notice and termination clauses. Some things carry on after any ending: intellectual property, our record retention duties and our obligations under the money laundering regulations.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them or your use of this website, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any such dispute. If you deal with us as a consumer rather than through a company, this does not affect your statutory rights.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, write to Fasih Khan at info@fiscalumbrella.co.uk or at Suite 2B, Crystal House, Luton LU1 1HS, setting out what happened and what you would like us to do. We will look into it properly, keep you posted while we do and tell you the outcome in writing. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can take the matter to the relevant UK accountancy professional body, which has its own complaints procedure for the firms and members it regulates.
Changes to these terms
We update these terms from time to time as the site, the law or our services change, and the last reviewed date at the top shows when that last happened. Changes that affect an existing client relationship are handled through the engagement letter. Carrying on using the site after an update means you accept the updated terms.
How to contact us
Legal and website queries come to one address.
Questions about these terms, about how we use the site content, or about a complaint should go to us in writing so there is a clear record on both sides. Please include your company name and what the query relates to.
