About this disclaimer
Fiscal Umbrella Accountants Ltd, company number 16315644, is an accountancy and tax practice based in Luton. This disclaimer applies to everything we publish: the pages on this website, blog posts, guides, downloadable files, any calculators or tools, and anything we post on social media. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions, and the three should be read together. Where this page and a signed engagement letter say different things, the engagement letter leads.
Information, not advice
Everything we publish here is general information written for owners of UK limited companies. It cannot take account of your own position: your company structure, your VAT scheme, what you sell and where, how you pay yourself, or what has already been filed. Two companies with the same turnover often need different answers. If you act on something you have read here without speaking to us first, that decision sits with you and your company. For an answer you can act on, answer a few quick questions on the site and we will come back to you, or speak to another qualified accountant who knows your situation.
Accuracy and currency
Tax rules move, and a page written last year can fall behind.
Accurate at the time of publishing
We research what we publish and it is correct as far as we can tell on the day it goes live. Rates, thresholds, filing dates and HMRC guidance all move after that, and a page that was right in one tax year can be wrong in the next.
Tax law changes
UK tax changes at every Budget and often in between, through autumn statements, Finance Acts and statutory instruments. Rates and thresholds quoted in an article, including VAT, corporation tax and anything to do with payroll, can be overtaken without the page being marked as old.
We do not promise updates
We do not undertake to revisit every page each time something changes. Treat anything written more than a year ago with care, check the current position on gov.uk, or ask us whether the point still holds for your company before you rely on it.
Check before you act
Before you make a decision that involves money, a filing date or anything you send to HMRC, confirm the current rules with us or with another qualified accountant. A figure copied from a web page is a starting point for a conversation, not a basis for filing.
No accountant and client relationship
Reading this site does not make you a client. Nor does downloading a guide, using a calculator, sending the contact form, answering the questions in our intake quiz, messaging us on WhatsApp, or having the free review with Fasih. We become your accountants when the scope and the fee are agreed and an engagement letter is signed by both sides. Until that point we are not responsible for decisions you take, and our professional indemnity insurance does not cover work we have not been engaged to do. The free review exists so you can see how we work before you move.
External links and third parties
We link out to other sites, usually gov.uk, HMRC guidance, Companies House and software providers such as Xero, QuickBooks and A2X, and sometimes to articles we have found useful. We do not run those sites and we cannot control what they say, how long they stay up, or what they do with your data. A link is a pointer, not an endorsement of that organisation, its services or any advice it gives. When you follow a link you leave our site, and the other party’s terms and privacy policy apply from there.
Calculators and tools
Any calculator or estimating tool on this site gives an indicative figure only. It works from the handful of numbers you type in, so it cannot see your full position: other income, how you pay yourself, reliefs you may qualify for, losses carried forward or anything already filed. Please do not use an output from this site to complete a return, set a price, commit to a purchase or plan a payment to HMRC. Calculations done properly for your company are part of the work we do once you have engaged us.
Liability
This section is about the content we publish on the website. Work we are engaged to do is covered by your engagement letter.
Once you engage us, what we are responsible for and to what extent is set out in the engagement letter and our Terms and Conditions, and those documents lead. What follows deals only with the pages, guides and tools published on this website and read by people we have not been engaged by.
What we do not limit
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under English law. Those protections stay in place whatever else this page says.
What we do limit
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss you suffer from relying on website content alone. That includes tax decisions, business decisions, money spent or not spent, deadlines missed, penalties or interest charged by HMRC, lost profit, lost time and lost data. The site is published as general reading for a wide audience.
When to engage us properly
If your situation needs an answer you can act on and hold us to, the route is straightforward. Answer a few quick questions on the site, and if there is a fit we will arrange the free review, agree the scope and put a fixed fee in writing before any work starts. From the signed engagement letter onwards, our professional indemnity insurance applies.
Copyright and content
The words, images, guides and tools on this site belong to Fiscal Umbrella Accountants Ltd or are used with permission. You are welcome to read them, print them for your own use and share a link or a short quote with credit back to us. Copying pages, guides or tools for commercial use needs our written permission first. Our Terms and Conditions set out the full position.
Changes to this disclaimer
We update this page when the site changes or the law does. The last reviewed date at the top shows when we last went through it, and the version published here is the one that applies. If you carry on using the site after a change, you accept the current version.
