About this policy

Fiscal Umbrella Accountants Ltd, company number 16315644, runs this website. This policy sets out how we use cookies and similar technologies such as pixel tags and browser storage, what each one is for, who provides it and how long it lasts. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally. We apply the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 and the UK GDPR. We also recommend having this policy checked by a solicitor or compliance professional before it is relied on.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your computer, tablet or phone. When you come back, the site can read that file. Cookies hold things like a session reference, a preference you have set, or a code that counts your visit for statistics. First-party cookies are set by this website itself. Third-party cookies are set by other services the site uses, such as an analytics provider, and those organisations can read their own cookies across the sites that use them. Some cookies expire when you close the browser. Others sit on your device for months.

Under UK rules, only cookies that are genuinely essential can be set without asking you first. Everything else waits for a clear yes.

When you first arrive, a banner asks which categories of cookies you are happy with. Nothing in the functional, analytics or marketing categories runs until you choose to allow it. Carrying on browsing, scrolling or closing the banner does not count as agreement, and no box is ticked for you in advance. Your choice is recorded per category, and you can change it whenever you like.

Strictly necessary cookies: no consent required

These keep the site working: holding your session, protecting forms against abuse, balancing traffic across servers and remembering the cookie choices you have already made. Without them pages break. UK rules allow these to be set automatically, and we still list them here so you can see them.

Everything else: consent required

Functional, analytics and marketing cookies are optional. They are blocked until you give specific consent for that category through the banner. If you accept one category and refuse another, we honour that. Refusing them all still leaves the whole site readable and every form usable.

Withdrawing consent

You can change your answer at any point using the manage cookies link in the footer, which reopens the banner with your current settings shown. Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing. You can also delete cookies in your browser, which clears the record of your choice and brings the banner back.

Cookies we use

We group cookies into four standard categories.

CategoryPurposeNote
Strictly necessary cookiesThese handle the basics: keeping a browsing session together, letting the contact form and the intake questions submit safely, guarding against automated abuse, and storing which cookie categories you have agreed to so we do not ask again on every page.No consent required. These are essential for the site to work.
Functional cookiesThese remember small choices you have made, such as a layout setting or whether you have already dismissed a notice. They make return visits smoother. The site still works properly without them, so they only run if you say yes.Set only with your consent. Withdraw anytime via manage cookies.
Analytics cookiesThese count visitors, show which pages get read, how long people stay and which routes bring them here, so we can see what is useful and what is not. Where analytics is enabled on this site it is provided by Google Analytics 4. Under UK rules analytics cookies need your consent.Set only with your consent. Helps us improve the site but not required for it to work.
Marketing cookiesMarketing cookies follow a visit across different websites so adverts can be targeted and their results measured. We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies on this site. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent through the banner before any such cookie is set.Set only with your explicit consent. Disable anytime.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by services this website relies on rather than by us directly, for example an analytics provider or an embedded element loaded from another domain. Those organisations decide what their own cookies do and keep their own privacy policies, which we suggest you read if you want the detail. Refusing a category in our consent tool stops the matching third-party cookies being set here. It does not change what the same provider does on other websites you visit, so you may want to manage those separately in your browser or through the provider’s own controls.

Managing your cookies

There are two places to control what runs.

You can change your choices on this site through our consent tool, or control cookies everywhere through your browser settings. The consent tool only governs this website. Browser settings apply to every site you visit, including this one.

Via this website

The manage cookies link in the footer reopens the consent banner with your current settings shown. Switch analytics or functional cookies on or off by category, save, and the change takes effect straight away. Withdrawing consent is the same number of clicks as giving it, and we do not ask again until you clear your cookies.

Via your browser

Every main browser lets you block or delete cookies for all websites. In Chrome, go to Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies. In Firefox, Settings, then Privacy and Security. In Safari, Settings or Preferences, then Privacy. In Edge, Settings, then Cookies and site permissions. Mobile browsers keep the same options under Settings.

Impact of blocking

Blocking strictly necessary cookies in your browser will break parts of the site, including forms and the record of your cookie choices. Refusing analytics or functional cookies changes nothing you can see. Every page, guide and form works exactly the same way.

Similar technologies

Cookies are not the only way a site can store or gather information. Local storage and session storage keep small amounts of data in your browser, pixel tags inside pages or emails record that something was opened, and our hosting provider keeps server logs of requests, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. Where these technologies are used for anything beyond keeping the site running safely, we treat them exactly as we treat cookies and ask for your consent first.

Children

This website is written for company directors and the businesses they run. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly use cookies to collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe we have, please tell us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the cookies on the site change or when guidance moves on. The last reviewed date at the top always shows the current version. If a change is significant, such as adding a new category or a new third-party provider, the banner will ask for your consent again. Small wording corrections will not.
