Is your e-commerce VAT and A2X setup costing you money?
E-commerce VAT and A2X should show the right sales, refunds and input VAT in every return.
Flat rate may have suited you at launch. As overseas sales, imports and refunds grow, does each VAT return still reflect how you trade?
Fiscal Umbrella handles e-commerce VAT and A2X for growing limited companies across the UK. Fasih Khan is ACCA qualified and maps online sales through A2X. Fees are fixed and agreed in writing.

What changes before your next VAT return
Pay VAT on the right sales
Your scheme and sales locations decide what reaches the return.
Reclaim the input VAT you can
Imports and business costs are recorded so valid input VAT is not missed.
Make marketplace payouts match the books
A2X gives each payout, fee, return and refund the right place.
Where e-commerce VAT starts costing more
These problems usually appear after sales volume or overseas orders grow.
- VAT
“I sell abroad and still seem to pay VAT as though every order were in the UK.”
The VAT scheme may no longer match where sales are made.
- Imports
“Stock arrives from overseas, but I cannot see whether import VAT and reverse charge are recorded properly.”
Valid input VAT can be missed when imports are posted incorrectly.
- Refunds
“Returns reduce marketplace payouts, yet nobody can show where they were reversed in the VAT return.”
The books can overstate sales when refunds and discounts remain in the original totals.
- Day 90
What changes once the VAT advice is in the room?
We compare flat rate with standard. We check import VAT, reverse charge and how overseas sales are treated. Then A2X is mapped so returns and refunds reach Xero or QuickBooks correctly.

Could they tell you this week whether your VAT scheme is the right one?

Could they get back to you this week about an import VAT or marketplace question?

Who this service is unlikely to suit
Businesses must be limited companies with established turnover and the ability to pay fees now.
Sole traders, partnerships and LLPs are outside this service.
Corner shops, takeaways, transport and haulage businesses are excluded.
Owners seeking only the lowest fee or refusing recommended software are unlikely to fit.
The set-up review checks the fit before either side commits.
What online sellers ask before changing anything
What does the monthly fee for e-commerce VAT and A2X include?
The written proposal states exactly what the monthly fee covers before work starts. For an online seller, that may include bookkeeping, VAT returns, year-end accounts, corporation tax and A2X support. The final scope depends on transaction volume, marketplaces, overseas sales and work already completed by your current accountant.
Can we review our e-commerce VAT if we already have an accountant?
Yes. The first step is a review of your VAT scheme, overseas sales, marketplace data and current filings. You can decide whether switching is worthwhile after receiving the recommendation. Fiscal Umbrella does not contact your accountant or request anything until you have agreed to proceed.
Do we have to move our bookkeeping software?
Only when the current setup cannot produce reliable VAT returns. Fiscal Umbrella supports Xero or QuickBooks and maps A2X against Shopify, Amazon, Etsy or eBay. Fasih reviews what you use first, then explains any change needed and how your team will handle sales, fees, returns and refunds.
What happens with our current accountant if we switch?
Once you decide to switch, Fiscal Umbrella contacts your current accountant, requests the records and handles professional clearance. The handover is planned around filing dates so VAT returns and year-end work keep moving. You will be asked for any marketplace access or documents the old accountant does not hold.
What do e-commerce VAT and A2X cover?
E-commerce VAT covers how online sales, overseas orders, imports, reverse charge, returns and refunds appear on the VAT return. A2X is mapped to Xero or QuickBooks against Shopify, Amazon, Etsy or eBay. The mapping needs to follow the VAT treatment applied to each type of transaction.
Is flat rate VAT suitable for an online seller with overseas sales?
It depends on where sales are made, what costs the company incurs and how much input VAT can be reclaimed. Flat rate can become expensive when overseas sales form a large share of turnover. The free VAT scheme and tax review compares the current treatment with the standard scheme before any change is recommended.
